Menu Design for SHADE Street Food + Bar

SHADE is a full-service restaurant that offers chef-inspired street food along with local and global cocktails, craft beer and wine. I have been a part of the initial branding team since the ideation phases began in January 2018 to the official restaurant opening on December 21, 2018. As the seasons change, the menu items and countries from which they are inspired also change. We used this “passport stamped” visual to communicate and encourage the idea to try different foods from all different regions of the world. The layout pictured above is our “refreshed” version of the second season’s menu. Originally, we opened the restaurant with one 11”x17” menu that was used for lunch and dinner throughout the week and an additional 8.5'“x11” brunch menu handed out on the weekends. However, the restaurant needed to differentiate price points and portions between lunch and dinner in order to clean up day to day operations and drive more revenue throughout the week. Hence, two 8.5”x11” versions (lunch and dinner) of essentially “one” menu.

Menu Design For Ceviche Taqueria & Margarita Bar

Ceviche Taqueria & Margarita Bar is a family-owned taqueria offering true authentic Mexican food with a twist, a wide variety of tequila, and an awesome atmosphere. After 10 years of operation and adding a second location, I joined the team as a Brand and Marketing Manager. The Owners and Director of Operations had a clear understanding of what worked and what didn’t in their restaurant, but needed help differentiating themselves in a competitive and over-saturated market along with staying relevant in this advancing digital age. For the first year of my employment, we focused heavily on executing a brand refresh- adding core values, a slogan, solidifying brand colors, message and logo, etc. After establishing these fundamentals, we worked hard to unify the restaurants under one brand identity and have successfully crossed the threshold! This March, we were able to re-design the look/aesthetic and operation of our menus, adding yet another substantial element of brand transition. Keeping the menus fun and quirky in order to communicate a playful, “not-so-serious” vibe to restaurant patrons was a big focus for our branding team. Adding visual elements and changing the format of our menu from place-mat style to menu-book style has elevated this brand exactly in the way we hoped it would!

Website Design for The District Salon & Events

In summer of 2018, business was booming for the salon but the owners wanted to expand their efforts for events. Their needs were twofold: they wanted to connect with both, clients looking for events hair + makeup services and freelance hair stylists + makeup artists looking for work. Luckily, this brand was pretty well established so all I had to do was clean up their look, create a space to communicate their offerings (events portion of the website), and drive traffic to site. I was able to do this by adding some explanation of their event service packages, visual photography/infographics, and forms.

Personalized Branding and Stationery Design for Wedding

In the fall of 2017, I was asked by a dear friend of mine to design her logo and stationery for her wedding in June of 2018! It was an honor and (at the time) a HUGE ask because I didn’t have much design experience outside of my college courses. She had faith and believed in me and I’m so thankful that she did because I was quite pleased with the outcome! Seeing my design work come to fruition through print was such an exciting feeling of accomplishment and pride. The stationery was the perfect final touch to a magical day for Mary Frances and Stephen!
